This is a very high quality mat. It is fairly dense and heavy, good thickness. It has a rubber layer on top, with attractive graphics and rounded corners. It is plenty big. Under the rubber layer is a thick layer of probably a neoprene foam, nice and firm. The mat in use is firm, but super comfortable and has just the right amount of spring in it. It's so much better than the cheap ones you find at big box stores.
It stays flat!! Who knew this would be a quality to look for? My last yoga mat was 'over-sized' to give me room to roll around. But it would never lay completely flat. The Eco Balance Yoga Mat lays totally flat - and is super grippy too! I love this mat so far. And another bonus? There is absolutely no chemical smell! I have had other yoga mats in the past where I needed to air it out for a day or two to allow the chemical smell to dissipate. The size of the yoga mat is standard and will accommodate a majority of people. I am 6'2'' and fit on the mat, but there's no room for me to roll around. I'm willing to sacrifice a little surface size for the quality this mat has. The included sling is convenient and effective. Great mat so far!
The thickness of this mat is just right for Pilates even. It allows for good grip while also having good cushion. I don’t slip easily but I do still use grip socks for longer exercises. The cushion is perfect for holding poses and kneeling, which usually really bothers my knees. I’m sure the mat is also very portable for those that go to yoga classes.
